black hat techniques seem to be the thing many website owners are now trying to use, they forget the honest way of working and creating quality content and instead resort to tactics which are being quickly picked up, as far as ive seem by working by the rules as such my sites and blogs have gained higher pr and more members.

Using black hat techniques is like running up a snow mountain and shouting once your at the top, you got ontop only to be brought down.

Ethically working on a site and only selling products you have actually tested is the right way to go, i do, however, work as a content writer for click bank articles which many sites have used and made profits. I dont like that they havnt tested the product themselves but i do it becuase i use the money to reinvest.

So ethics is a faded line and trying to impose our own will never work. Just have to allow it and wait till they get caught. In the case of a business by selling products that are not thier own but sill endoring it they will eventually lose consumer trust and be worse off for it.

Hey, thanks for reading! That's a very good point about the Google advice. The links I posted at the end were just intended to be further reading on the topic of SEO ethics, and I definitely don't agree with everything written on those pages. I should probably clarify that.

Love the graphics on your site, by the way! Gorgeous.

I was with you until the end of your post. Honesty and ethics are really important and you did a good job at considering some of the issues.

However, I'm not really sure that Google's advice on hiring an ethical SEO is appropriate. A lot of things on that page are ridulous - for instance it states that you should get a guarantee from your SEO, and then states that no one can guarantee results.
